For any sci-fi fan, the opportunity to work with Star Trek is nothing short of a dream. I had the incredible privilege of partnering with CBS Studios to launch the Star Trek X MIMOBOT series, which officially warped onto shelves on November 20, 2012.
This collaboration was a deep dive into the iconic universe, featuring a star-studded lineup of beloved characters: Data, Captain Kirk, Spock, Captain Picard, and Sulu.

Translating the intricate details and distinct personalities of these legendary Starfleet officers into the unique MIMOBOT form factor was a thrilling challenge. My role encompassed the entire creative voyage, ensuring every design decision honored the legacy of the franchise:
- Character Design: I meticulously adapted each character, from Spock’s raised eyebrow to Data’s precise features, ensuring their essence was captured while fitting the MIMOBOT silhouette. This required careful attention to uniform details, insignia, and even their iconic hairstyles.
- Licensing Approvals: Working closely with CBS Studios was crucial. Every design element, pose, and color choice went through rigorous approval to ensure authenticity and respect for the beloved canon.
- Packaging Design: The packaging was crafted to evoke the sleek, futuristic aesthetic of Star Trek, inviting fans to collect their favorite crew members. We wanted the unboxing experience to feel like discovering a new piece of Starfleet tech.
- Promotional Materials: From digital campaigns to launch collateral, I developed materials that spoke directly to the passionate Star Trek fanbase, building excitement for the collectible series.

This project was more than just designing products; it was about celebrating a cultural phenomenon. Seeing these characters, which have inspired generations, brought to life in a new, collectible format was incredibly rewarding. It was a true masterclass in respecting a powerful legacy while innovating within a new product category.
