For legacy public media institutions, attracting new, younger, and non-traditional audiences often requires breaking past the perception of being overly formal or academic.
To lower the barrier to entry, I conceptualized and executed a collection of whimsical, public media–forward stickers, temporary tattoos and embroidered patches. Designed specifically for community engagement and outreach events, this visual kit transforms WBUR’s brand identity into warm, everyday collectables that spark curiosity, conversation, and delight among people unfamiliar with NPR or public radio.
Impacts & Results
Lowered Barrier to Entry: Successfully created an approachable visual gateway for audiences unfamiliar with NPR and WBUR, driving organic booth traffic at community pop-ups and festivals.
Increased Brand Affinity: Generated high demand for physical collateral, turning passive event attendees into active, self-identified community advocates.
Versatile Brand Extension: Established a fun, scalable illustration style guide now used across pop-up events, digital campaign assets, and seasonal promotional merchandise.
